Hello from Startex Records!

Thank you to all who have supported our music -- we really appreciate you all helping us to keep traditional Country Music alive.

We are very happy to announce the arrival of Jake Hooker's latest CD, Lost Along The Way. As with Jake's past CDs, this new CD is 12 of the most traditional, honky-tonk, fiddle and steel songs and is probably Jake's best to date.

Those of you who have attended Jake's dances will recognize many favorites including the title cut, Lost Along The Way, It's Warm With Love In Here and the much requested Rodeo Man.

Western Swing legends Leon Rausch and Jody Nix join Jake on the vocals for two swing classics, Talkin' 'Bout You and You're From Texas, written by the immortal Cindy Walker.

The musicians feature an all-star cast, starting with the great Bob Moore on upright bass (the all-time most recorded session man in Nashville) and the great veteran guitarist Pete Wade who cut his musical teeth on the Ray Price Cherokee Cowboys bandstand.

On acoustic guitar is the fantastic Jimmy Capps, whom many if you have doubtless seen playing guitar on the Wilburn Brothers television show for many years.

The piano work is done by the A-Team legend Hargus "Pig" Robbins who has played on most of the hit records recorded in Nashville.

Grammy award winner Bobby Flores does his usual best-in-the-world fiddle playing and can be heard on all of Jake's other CDs.

And on steel we have Nashville's most in-demand steel guitarist Paul Franklin. Paul's playing will knock you out! This is a great setting for Paul in a musical style in which we don't get to hear him often enough.

Our good friend Amber Digby, a solo recording artist in her own right, sings vocal backup. Rounding out the vocal accompaniment is Jake's dad Tommy Hooker, also a terrific solo vocalist and band leader.

There are many sample sound clips available at www.startexrecords.com. To listen click on the Lost Along The Way album cover and then click the highlighted song you want to hear.

You can order Jake's new CD at www.startexrecords.com or by mail by sending $16 per CD plus $3.00 shipping (per order, not per CD) to:

Best wishes,

Jim Loessberg

Wow brother; I'm speechless....I'm without words. What a lineup.....> questions???
Did you record all of this at your studio?? Did you send it off to have Paul play?? and Pete for that matter?? Or did they come here to record.??
I can't wait to hear Paul play on this classic country stuff...>I remember hearing him back in the Mel Tillis days...and other than some of George Strait and Allen Jackson early stuff....You don't get to hear Paul in this repertoire anymore(or at least I haven't).

Wow Jim!

That sounds pretty serious. Glad to see the big guns getting more into this style music.

Jim, it was great seeing you at Pearl's Fri while Jake was pickin. I listened to the CD a few times, on the plane ride back out here. It is a great production. No doubt, Franklin and the boys had a blast getting to do this. It is one of the best "Texas" albums to come out of Nashville.

Ricky,

We did this one in Nashville. The logistics of getting everyone we wanted here at the same time would never have worked out. I did mix and master it at my studio.

There advantages and disadvantes to both ways. For one thing we were able to do the entire album in one day (three three-hour sessions). It would have taken much longer at my studio. It did cost me a little more, however, but it was worth it. It's as good as anything I have made here.

Roger, we used those big guns because they ARE this style of music! They just don't get to do it as much as they would like because (unfortunately) there isn't a big market for the traditional style anymore.

Danny, it was good to see you. I'm sorry we didn't get to visit more but it was so loud in that corner where the CD table was that it was very hard to carry on a conversation. I'm glad you like the CD and I really appreciate you supporting our efforts!

All the pickers seemed to have a good time at the session -- I know Jake and I did.

Best,

Jim

Jim,

The CD is killer. I got mine Saturday at Bandera. The song choices are very diverse. And Jim is on drums and bass guitar, the best rhythm section you can find. Jake and the band were great in the rain. The twin fiddles of Randy Elmore and Rocky King with Rick Price, what more could you ask for.
Great record Jim.

Jim,

Thanks for sending mine out so quickly. Got it Friday, and I just can't turn it off. Since I'm a Bob Moore Junkie, you can understand. But it's much more than that. The songs have great lyrics, the A Team kicks major butt, the sound is superb, and Jake, of course, is spot-on like always. Several of the songs will definitely wind up on my most-played list.

Obviously, I'm biased, but I think this could be Jake's best album yet, and it is certainly one of the finest I've ever heard that you've produced. Dave Martin told me about it not long ago, and that it would be out soon. I couldn't be happier, and I'm thrilled that you guys are kicking butt and taking names.

On a separate note, I sure was sorry to miss Dottie's event in Bay City. It would have been nice to pick for her (and so close to home, too). Hope we can all pick a little together in the future.

Jim, thanks again for all your hard work. When outstanding recordings are put out like this, it lifts up our kind of music as well as all of us out there playing it. Keep it up, brother.

Bill

Jim,

Thanks for the info and thanks for taking PayPal.

Can't wait to receive mine and hear Paul and these other greats work on the sort or project Nashville should take on a whole lot more often.
