I got to play a few gigs with Tom in recent years. Really sweet man and a fine singer. Sad news indeed. |

I worked for Tom from 1976-1979, three piece, Guitar, Steel, and Bass. The bass player slapped the strings between notes to simulate the snare. Tom was popular and we worked a lot. I played every intro, fill, turnaround, break and ending. Classic country all the way. I learned not only how to be a steel player, but how to be a professional musician.
Not a week goes by when he doesn't cross my mind. He was a great guy, my friend and my mentor.
He always had good steel players.- Gene Schiebel, Russ Powell, Ben Lawson, Craig Baker and a bunch more I'm sure I'm leaving out.
I spoke with his wife today and the family is devastated. Please keep them and Tom in your prayers tonight. |
