Here was another Magazine on West Coast " Country Music Reporter " Headed up by Board memeber of The Academy Of Country Music, Publisher Joe Barber. In it's days of 1985 until it died helped many Musicians in our neighborhood like the Western Union Band,Johnny Vee,The Indian River Boys,Bill Woods,Gene Moles,Glenn Snow,Fran Faber,Jimmy Snyder,Kay Austin,Jerry Naylor. Now, " Jack Reeves " was not with his " Rat Race " while " Billy Webb was on a roll with his Louisann and " Hal Southern was, " I'm Goona Drink You Out Of My Mind " and guess what " Claire Courtney said, " That What I Get For Being A Women ". Now,this is what Grand Junction had on Linda Peace. Move it on up! Confused Leo J.Eiffert,Jr & Crawfish Band.

Hey Jerry, what's the but about? Why can't you and others out there understand who once lived here in Southern California get what I'm after and doing. It's not about what you dudes or ladies did out here in your personal life. It's about the neighborhood of History you was apart of and can't even see the forrest for the trees as to why or how that can be.Sorry, brother Jerry, but,my but in in the air when it comes to right or wrong for Musicians.I guess I'm a fool for trying to help what you guys let get away. It's not a fight. it's a principal to the truth that most can't take. My years with Nashville powers and Alabama's Band's Jam and all for the Academy Of Country Music with Dick Clark's productions,I'm not sorry about any of it for my own History. Sincerely in Music,Leo

Hey Leo, no need to get hostile!  You know that I'm on your side and always have been.  A lot of the folks on the Forum aren't as familiar with you and what you've done in the southern California music scene as I am.   I appreciate you a lot and am one of your biggest supporters!

I'm glad you mentioned Joe Barber, I hadn't thought of him for years.   I remember Lou Martin when he'd sing "The Old Man From the Mountain's Comin' Home" he'd use the line  "Get rid of Joe the Barber, you'd better be there alone" and ol' Joe's face would light up.........JH in Va.

Hey Brother Jerry, You know I'm not being hostile at you.you made my point for me as to who you really are & why we know each other like we do that others don't understand. In true respect! You have supported me & TNN,The Academy Of Country & Western Music before it was The ACM & The CMA and so many benefits for others over the years out here. That's the forrest for the trees for many others to remember. And,let me tell you that there is a lot of Music Business people who know who I am and why I'M doing what I'm doing for our neighborhood that will never be again the way it was for us.But,us old as we are,it's only right to help the young understand what truely Southern California Music secene was all about. So,that's the but of this new world of Business Music heads to know we were here before and will still be here after it's all said and done no matter how big they think they are. I do wish I knew Toby Keith,George Strait,Garth Brooks,Alabama(the boys),Joe Diffie,John Anderson,Tracy Lawrence,Arron Tippin,Reba McEntire,Martin McBride,Billy Dean,Doug Supernaw,Mark Chesnutt,Patty Loveless,Scott Siman,David Corlew,Bob Romeo,Buddy Owens,Steve Dahl,Tim McGraw,Kenny Chesney,Hank Williams,Jr.& Brad Paisley.I'd feel much better knowing my life is in the fast lane of the past.I've had an amazing journey with seeing all the big stars who have come an gone thanks to my life time member with the Academy of Country Music & Dick Clark & his Production Company. I've got 20 more years to go! Cool Sincerely in Music,Leo J.Eiffert,Jr. & us PIGEONS Band with the Crawfish Band.

Leo, it always irked me as to how the Academy went the way it did! I always thought it was supposed to be a west coast answer to the CMA for West Coast artists and such but it's become just another Nashville showcase and mostly for new country! Remember the old shows at the John Wayne Theater at Knott's Berry Farm? Those were some good memories for sure. Here's a shot from back then when the Palomino band won most of the awards and Al won lead guitarist again!

Jerry:
I might be mistaken didn't the first CMA awards here in So. calif. take place at the old "Red Barrel" club on Carson Blvd. in Hawaiian Gardens, Ca. ?
It was put together by some Disc Jockeys and I beleive Johnny Mosby was involved also.

Hey Billy,I've been posting about the beagainning of the Academy of Country Music for the last two years on this matter of who started it and how it's got to be what it is today by the people who are running it.Like the National anthem of America everybody has their own antihero to it.All I would love out of them people who are making all this big money from it, the ACM to respect the neighborhood who they took it from and to build a museum to house the musicians, club woners who truely help them become who they are here in 2009. It will never happen in my life time or anybodies. But,at lease my book will tell it all," Who Used Who,my Memories " with The Academy Of Country (ACM) & Western Music. I don't want this book out until I'm Dead for my girls and grandkids so they can make a living from it. Carry On and God Bless! Cool Sincerely in Music,Leo J.Eiffert,Jr.

Bump: I bet we have a lot more answers to " Joe Barber " who once worked for George Jones. Joe Barber was and still could be a songwriter in the state of Texas where he lives. Let's put a little sleep of the wheel behind this " Same ole song and dance " song Joe Barber Wrote. Whoa! Leo J.Eiffert,Jr. & Pigeons Band.
