The concert will take place on Sunday, September 13, at the Brand library in Glendale CA. 1601 Mountain Ave, at 2 PM.
This is the the public debut of the trio (We played a few private functions.)It is the first time ever that a chamber music ensemble has included a pedal steel guitar. We are literally making musical history. We are also playing some absolutely lovely music.
This is Carole's concert, and she will be performing with others as well as the trio. {I call it "my" trio, buit it's really hers. She knows more than I do, and is better at what she does than I am at what I do.) Our portion of the concert will last about 20-25 minutes.
Carole has played with the L.A. philharmonic since the early 80s and is a first call A-list session player. Check out her discography.

I consider it a real honor and privilege to play with her.
I hope as many of you who are within driving distance can attend.
If anybody needs driving directions, please E-mail me. _________________ Please visit my web site and Soundcloud page and listen to the music posted there.

Very disappointed I can't make this. I have often thought when listening to Bach etc. how cool it would be to translate organ music or classical guitar to the pedal steel...if only I was good enough to pull it off! lol
Funny, I actually met a guy at a music store called Old Time Music in North Park San Diego last week, we got talking and I told him I played steel, he told me a guy he knew named Mike Perlowin was performing a classical music concert in Los Angeles on the 13th...I thought the name sounded familiar!
Anyway I'll be on my way back from Bakersfield/Fresno on the 13th, otherwise I would have really enjoyed this. Good luck. |

That would be Phil Boroff, a great guitar player and a very old friend from high school. Phil, Herb Steiner and I all played in a bluegrass band together in 1961 or '62.
Phil is planning on driving up from San Diego, 120+ miles each way, to see the concert. _________________ Please visit my web site and Soundcloud page and listen to the music posted there.

Mike: Once again my hat goes off to you and your cause. Your undying efforts to promote pedal steel in this capacity will surely be rewarded. Best, HJ |

Break a leg, Mike. Wish I could be there, but it's a long commute for me. |

Hey Mike...sorry I can't make it. I'm sure you'll knock it out of the park! Will there be any recordings made? |

This was a great performance! Mike played beautifully on quite challenging pieces. The blend of pedal steel, viola and cello was gorgeous.
Well done, Mike!!!
I shot pix, should have them up on a gallery later this week. _________________ E9 INSTRUCTION
