man you got that right! his work on John Prine's "Inspite of Ourselves" is awesome as well, I wish I could go to St Louis and see him this year.

Patty Loveless is one of ,if not the best vocalists out there. She can sing any type of song. Next time you are surfing the UTUBE, check out Patty with Ricky Skaggs singing the old gospel song "Daniel Prayed" or Patty with Ralph Stanley singing the old BLUE GRASS song "Pretty Polly". I met Al Perkins when he was taking steel lessons from Al Petty in Odessa,TX. He has developed into a super player. Jody.

I got the weekend off, had a busy month and on the 12th my nightmare week begins. leavin Wash on the 12 heading to Nashville for the Gram Parsons petition show.
I never really listened to Patty, so Im really happy to be getting into her late. Im gonna stock up for this road trip.

For what it's worth... Patty's version (and Ronstadt's) are both definitely in 4/4; they're just straight 8th's as opposed to a shuffle... |

They're both great singers and both versions are unique. I like them both. I wonder if Patty has a version of Blue Bayou. I'll bet she could nail it.  |

Liked Patty's version for the singing and instrumental accompaniment, but I liked Ronstadt's mix of the rhythm section better. On Patty's version, the drums seem buried somewhere, at least thru my earphones ...  |

After hearing the YouTube version from this post I went and purchased the CD. Great stuff! Excellent playing! Real country music!
I think this is my new favorate version of Crazy Arms. Just knocks me out every time I hear it.

I must have heard at least three dozen versions of Crazy arms over the years, but Patty's the best by far. I harldy even recognized it the first time. That whole album is delicious, one of my all time top 10 (of about 1500).
Everything she's done since "Mountain soul" has been absolutely outstanding, getting even better with each new album. Can't wait for the next one! |

| Patty can sing to me all day long! As stated above, one of the absolute best Country singers of all time. And she can cover every area of the genre and be right there with best. I love Linda also and won't attempt to compare them. Just two greats! And yes, great steel. Right on the money! |
