I've been looking for the complete words to that tune. Only thing I've found is the "chorus" part, and not the intro part. I would actually like to find the sheet music, but searches have not turned up anything.
It's an old Harry Owens tune.

I've got a Lani or Dick McIntire version I'll dig up and post the lyrics to when my girlfriend isn't asleep in our little apartment. However, I bet Basil Henriques will have it up sooner! Very Happy

Bill

We're dancing under the stars, tonight
And you are a vision of loveliness in white
I see a light of sweet aloha in your eyes of love
Eclispsing the moon, the tropical stars above.

While dancing under the stars, with you
My world is a heaven of make believe come true
And you can make it real just say you feel, the way I do,
While we're dancing, under the stars tonight.

Very Happy

Aloha Bud That's the chorus part Bud. The intro is not there !!

Yeah, I bet Basil has the info.

George de Fretes plays it on youtube, but the words aren't easy to understand, and I can't hear very good these days!!

Bill, I found the site on utube for George de Fretes' version but it would not open because of some violation rights. Do you still have the link to that site? If so, please post and I'll see if I can decipher what the woords are.

Aloha Bill,

Then, you'd have to get the old sheet music. It's probably the only material that will have that intro with lyrics and notation.

I've never heard the Hawaiian groups on vinyl sing that part.
In fact, you'll rarely heard anyone singing this song today at all.

Very Happy

I'll try this link. I'm not much on PCs

The fact that it's not played or sung much in recent years is a good reason to do it!!
I'm not big on playing the usual "tourist" Hawaiian tunes that have been recorded a thousand times.

Here is the intro:

Dancing with you is the thrill of a lifetime darling
To music that drives the tears of the world away
You're here in my arms and I'm up in heaven
This dear to me is the end of a perfect day

What a beautiful old tune. I found the Lyrics in Dick McIntire's version featuring Ray Kinney on the Cumquat disk of McIntire's called "On a Coconut Island."

There you go, Bill. I think this is the first time I've ever heard the intro to this song. I have two versions of this song and neither one plays that intro. Very beautiful. Still working on locating the sheet music.

Very Happy Smile Cool

I sure hope Bill is planning to play this song at the HSGA Joliet Convention. We haven't heard Bill in a while so it will be another treat for everyone to enjoy.
You're planning to be there,-aren't you Bill? We hope so. Or are you just going to stay at home and play in the closet for your own enjoyment?

Yeah Wally, I've been playing that tune in my closet for over a year Very Happy I know the tune, but wanted the words to define the played notes better. As far as Joliet is concerned,
I'll play it if I get there Smile

Thanks for getting the words for me Matthew. The link I posted was Peter de Fretes on steel guitar, who carried on with that band after George died in 1981. Peter died in 2005, so the de Fretes steel guitar style is no more.
