How tough is it to buy tuning rods for an old Bud? Is it diffcult to make them? I'd like to add a couple of pulls to my steel but need at least one rod to start things. _________________ Zum Encore, Zum Stage One, Fender 2000, Harlan Bros., Multi-Kord, |

Fred, you'll play heck to get the original old hex type. But you can get stainless steel rod at a welding supply, thread one end, and use nylon tuners--I run the nylon deep into the threads so it does not slip, and you can tune the barrels just fine. Barrels will likey be pretty hard to find--that's your real challenge. |

Doesn't John Coop make rods?
I seem to remember him making improved rods for barrel-tuning Buds. They were one-piece, and had a male hex end, so you could use a standard George L type tuning wrench, and you wouldn't have to worry about the hex end coming uncrimped from the rod.
A good idea, if you ask me... |

Yes Skip, Coop did the work on my steel when I bought it earlier this year. I could have him supply them, and I just might do that. But I also need someone to help me relocate a rack assembly from the C6 neck over to the E9 neck too. I love Coops work, but I don't relish the idea of driving about 300 miles down to his place, and then going back again, to pick it up. _________________ Zum Encore, Zum Stage One, Fender 2000, Harlan Bros., Multi-Kord, |
