How tough is it to buy tuning rods for an old Bud? Is it diffcult to make them? I'd like to add a couple of pulls to my steel but need at least one rod to start things.

Fred, you'll play heck to get the original old hex type. But you can get stainless steel rod at a welding supply, thread one end, and use nylon tuners--I run the nylon deep into the threads so it does not slip, and you can tune the barrels just fine. Barrels will likey be pretty hard to find--that's your real challenge.

Doesn't John Coop make rods?
I seem to remember him making improved rods for barrel-tuning Buds. They were one-piece, and had a male hex end, so you could use a standard George L type tuning wrench, and you wouldn't have to worry about the hex end coming uncrimped from the rod.
A good idea, if you ask me...

Yes Skip, Coop did the work on my steel when I bought it earlier this year. I could have him supply them, and I just might do that. But I also need someone to help me relocate a rack assembly from the C6 neck over to the E9 neck too. I love Coops work, but I don't relish the idea of driving about 300 miles down to his place, and then going back again, to pick it up.
