IE 8 will make you much more secure than IE 6. I didn't know that anybody here was still using that old browser. Most have upgraded to at least IE 7.
That said, IE 8 does have documented problems getting along with other security programs, like Spybot S&D. On some computers running both, if you apply full immunization with Spybot, IE 8 may crash as soon as you try to open it. Undoing immunization against bad domains fixes the problem. Then, one must rely on the HOSTS immunization for protection against known bad domains and URLs. _________________ "Wiz" Feinberg, Moderator SGF Computers Forum

I have ie8 loaded on my wife's computer. While trying to pay a bill on-line, the program advised her that the page could not be properly displayed using ie8. There is a compatibility mode on the menu bar that will allow you to continue. Other than that, IE8 works for me just fine. |

I installed IE8 on two different computers and undid the update on both. It has some nice features, but requires a lot of processor/RAM speed to run. Consequentially, both would drag and stall. (IE7 worked fine and does again.) I now have a newer faster computer and may try it again. If it works, great. If not, I'll be back to 7, again.
If you have an older computer or one with a smaller amount of RAM, (less than a gig,) think twice. Or at least know how to undo the unpdate. _________________ My best,

I updated ti IE8 and regret this. I have had nothing but problems with it. First, it has a weird display. The toolbar where the favorites button is, is blacked out although you can move the mouse over where it should be and click, and the favorites menu will come up. There is about a 3/16" gap between the top bar and the first tool bar where you can actually see the desktop behind it. It stops responding about 1 out 3 times I use it.
Is there any way to get rid of IE8 and get IE7 back on? Is there anyway to save the favorites list so I can restore in in IE7?
Luckily I prefer using Firefox, Safari and Opera much better than the crap from Microsoft. But, I would like to get it fixed or put back to IE7. I need it to test websites I make.Sorry Wiz, I just saw the link to IE7. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . Yes, you can uninstall Internet Explorer 8.0 via Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs. This will roll you back to the previously installed version, which was hopefully backed up.
You can export your favorites to a file and import them in other browsers, like Firefox. Go to File Import/Export and export Favorites and Cookies to files and save them to a location you will remember. _________________ "Wiz" Feinberg, Moderator SGF Computers Forum
