I am wondering what most collectors, players Etc are looking for to add to thier collection.

Over the years on the forum,it seems to me, Buds, Emmons PP & Zums are the ones that sell quick, followed by the ZBs,MCIs, Etc.

Dont get me wrong, Im not rating these steels for tone Etc. thier all great steels Smile

It also seems thier is an influx of Buds for sale as of recently, maybe the economy ?

Looks like a good time to own a Bud Very Happy

If you're talking pedal steel, my guess is that the top collectible ones would be

Bigsby
Franklin
Emmons push-pull
Sho Bud
ZB
Zum

I suppose some might not consider Zums or Franklins "vintage" at this point, but the vintage guitar world now considers some 70s and early 80s stuff vintage now.

There were so many Emmons guitars made, and so few Wraparounds. Wraparounds are rarer than Bigsbys. Remember, it took them 18 months to make 23 Wraparounds, and the total production could have been four dozen -- maybe. So, it is unrealistic to lump all Emmons guitars into the push pull category. There certainly is a difference in availability, price, construction and sound. I for one have no interest in any Emmons made after 1965.
Same with Sho-Buds. There are Permanents and Pro IIs without the "Custom" and Super Pro IIs that stand out.
There are sought after Wrights, and ignored Wrights.
From my own perspective and that of the pretty active market in these two guitars, I would say that authentic Emmons Wraprounds and reasonably unmolested to original Bigsbys are at the top of the list. I don't see many other guitars going for five figures.

Buddy's "Steel Guitar Jazz/Night Life-Sho Bud" would be a nice score too! Cool Not to mention Speedy's Bigsby...
