I just purchased an older D-10 Shobud, and can not get any sound from it. Speaker works, as I checked it out with my six string lap. Could it be the 3-way switch, or something else. Help would be appreciated. Sad

Start by plugging in direct to your amp(volume down) bring your volume up a little and flip your switch back and forth. If you have coil taps, try them. If you have an ohm meter, you should get a reading right off the guitar chord plugged into the jack, and using the switch, test both pickups.

Next, check your wiring from your speaker jack for a loose wire. If you can't get anything from either pickup, you may have a bad switch or broken wire. But if it were a broken wire, you should hear a hum. So, Possibly a pair of dead pickups--which would be really odd for both to be bad. You just bought the guitar? Did you get a chance to hear it first, or was it a long distance purchase? Maybe some of these ideas will be of benefit to you. Love them old 'buds!! Cool

Thanks, I'll try all of that. No I didn't get to hear it first. It was a long distance buy. But for the price, I think I did ok. Thanks again.

Well, If you have dead pickups, Jerry Wallace of Truetone pickups will rewind them for ya perfect, and cheap.

Make sure all connections are tight also like the nut that holds the output jack in place. If it gets loose just a bit the circuit will be broken. Also if you make a jumper wire you can check your pick-ups just before the switch. If you have sound there then odds are it is the switch. When I had my pick-ups rewound I replaced all the switches at the same time.
