I have an Epson Stylus Photo R280
My buddy has an Epson Artisan 50
They both use the same series ink cartriges.
Senerio; If we both bought ink catridges for our printers at the same time, and from the same store, we would be sold cartridges of the "same pile", so to speak, and they would work in our printers.
Now, talking to Epson, they tell me the ink cartridges I use in my R280 cannot be used in the Artisan 50, because of the chip reading in the cartridge. What gives?
Thanks

I use Epson printers (and an all in one) as I use them for writing directly on CD's.
As long as they require the same cartridges it should work. E.g. if they both take the TO48 series.
According to Epson the R280 uses the 77 series and the Artisan 50 also is listed for the 77 series.
The idiot at Epson didn't know what they were talking about. |

You are so right on that one.............
I have been using refillable cartriges for my Epson. They work great. Just received my order of empty refillable cartridges an hour ago.
There is also a countinuos ink supply system which uses ink tanks and a ribbon (6 tubes for my printer) which distributes the ink to the ink cartridge tanks in your printer. This works great also, but I prefer the refillable cartridges. The chips reset themselves to read full and no hasle with the ribbon.
I have saved a bundle in ink in the past year. Check it out at www.EchoStore.com
There is another newer system which uses ink cartridges which have removable ink supply modules. When a color is empty you remove the ink cartridge and them replace the color module. No mess. The whole system cost $69CND for my computer of 6 cartridges, and each ink module is $3.
