Just wondering how many of you out there use the Cobra Coil strings and do they make a difference.
I've been a GHS guy for years but for some reason my Emmons guitar doesn't seem to like them much.
Thanks

I've been using Jagwire strings (Stainless) for quite some time now. I started off with Nickle and then settled on the Stainless. I wanted a little extra "crispiness" on the wound strings and the Stainless did that. After replacing the 12-1 pickup with a BL-712 I noticed that the wound strings were a bit too "crispy" sounding, so I decided to go back to Nickle. At one point, my favorite Jagwire dealer was out of U-12 Jagwire strings, so I ordered some Cobra Coils from Bobbe.

The wound strings sound huge, a bit brighter than Nickle, but not as bright as Stainless. I didn't change the gauge on any of the strings; however, I had to do some tweaking on the pulls on some of the wound strings. That tells me that, perhaps, the core sizes are a bit different than the Jagwires.

Cobra Coils are great strings. I like them every bit as much as I like Jagwires.

I have been using Cobras for a couple of Years and the difference to any other string was certainly noticeable in both tone and durability.

I put my first set of Cobras on my Derby about two weeks ago (I had been using Jags) and it seemed to me there was something livelier about the tone. I'm very pleased with them.

The few packages I've had seemed sticky or something. The strings seem to be coated with a sticky substance. Never could get used to them.

Thanks to everyone for posting. I think I'm going to call Steel guitar Nashville and order some Cobra Coils and give them a try.
