I just got another Sho-Bud volume pedal it's got a Bradley pot in it and sounds so much better than my other with a newer pot. Only problem is that it's pretty stiff to push down, the screws on the sides arent tight at all, any ideas of how to loosen the action?

Don't know whether it's relevant or not, but I had a similar issue with a Goodrich pedal last winter, turned out to be the pot itself. You might try throwing another pot in there and seeing how it feels.

remove the string, twist the pot to see if that's your problem.
Also, examine the string for binding: I once left the string trying to climb over itself, was essentially unusable.

ISTR that Sho-Bud pedals lack a wrappable screw, but the principle is the same, have a picture:

Joe, Check your string for age. Sounds like you have a very good pot--nice and tight yet. LOVE those old Allen Bradleys. Here's how I restring them with fly-fishing line--works for me. I use a needle nose pliars to keep the line tight--ya gotta keep that string tight. Also, check that spring towards the back of the pedal, make sure it's not a real stiff one. Back off the lock nuts on the side screws until it feels right for you. I LOVE those old shobud pedals.

There Joe, your thread is back down to size. Had trouble posting the other night, --it wouldn't show it posted--thus the numerous repeats. Then the thread disappeared all together. Computer ghost?

Just for the archives, here's a picture of the wiring of a 'bud pot pedal--might help some one out some time.
