As many of you know, I have been attempting to record a C.D. for the last few years. Well, finally, it looks as though we will get the initial tracking done this weekend. I am thrilled and humbled, to have some extremely talented partners with me on this project. The drummer is Derico Watson who most recently has been touring with the Jeff Coffin (Reed player with the Flecktones) MuTet, and is featured prominently on the new Wooten Bros. C.D. W3W. Alex Depue, Violinist/Fiddler "delux" will be holding down the Fiddle spot. For those of you that haven't heard Alex, his style is very "Grapelliesque". BTW Alex will be on the televised portion of the Opry this weekend with Chris Cagle. Rounding out the group will be Mike "Big Ears" Bianchi on Piano and Scott Nesbit on Bass. I hope to have some C.D.'s available for the Choo Choo show. b0b, Thanks for the forum!!!

Well, We got the first two tracking sessions done and I'm excited. So far we've got 7 tunes pretty much finished with 3 to go. The drumming of Derico Watson pushed all of us to a higher level. Derico will be moving to Nashville in the next couple of months in order to better facilitate his touring schedule with saxaphonist Jeff Coffin and others. Also I was "blown away by the "chops" of Mr. Alex Depue on Violin/Fiddle. He certainly contributed greatly to the project. We have a rather "eclectic" mix of originals and covers including tunes written by Charlie Parker, Jerome Kern, Michael McDonald, Lennon & McCartney and others. Thanks for listening to my ramblings. And b0b, Long live the Forum!!!

As far as the Jeff Coffin Mutet is concerned, isn't Pat Bergeson the guitarist?

I just heard the trax only (no steel or guitar) -- and, with Alex DePue's fiddle playing (he blows me away every time I hear him) and some of the piano stuff I heard (Bianchi IS a monster), I'd buy it WITHOUT STEEL.
(just kidding, Frank)

All seriousness aside, this will be a mind blowing CD. Frank is a world class player who deserves more recognition.

Hi Frank,

Good News...I'll be watching & listening for it.
Let me know when it is ready, as I will want to carry it in my catalog.
Unfortunately, I won't be able to make Grand Rapids this year.
Best Wishes,
Al Brisco

Yes, Mr. Bergeson has been touring with Jeff Coffin, Derico Watson, and Felix Pastorius (Son of Jaco) in the Jeff Coffin Mutet. BTW, Derico was in today doing final percussion overdubs on my new C.D. Also, Derico informed me he will be doing a gig in Muskegon, Mi. with Victor, Regi, and Joseph Wooten. If any forumites in that area would like to attend, please e-mail me for details. Thanks again.

Thanks, It seems to me that Chet Atkins listed Bergeson as one of his favorite players.

Hey Frank - any updated news on your CD? I've got lots of you on reel to reel (70's & 80's Versatones) and need to update my "Frankie Rogers Collection". I'm interested in picking up one of your CD's when available.

Joel, Bill and Bob, Thanks for your interest in the C.D. After a bit of an hiatus I am about ready to finish the project. I will make an announcement on the forum regarding availability. BTW Bill, as usual, you did a great set at the G.R. Show. I would love to come and do your show sometime. And Bob, your c.d.s are AWESOME. Hopefully, you will be able to do the G.R. show next year. And Joel, it was great to hear from you again. Many thanks, F.R.
