I got to missing my dad today,it was 15 years ago when he was diagnosed with esophogial cancer and had surgery. One of my my fondest memories of him happened about a year before he died. I ws doing open-mic in Baton Rouge on a Friday night, when him and mom came to hear me debut a song that I wrote. This was the first song that I wrote. This song took me about 15 minutes to write and about six months to finish it. Due to the metering in the song.
Anyway, mom and dad entered the place just as I was getting ready to do the song, I saved it for last.
I get through doing the song and the people in the place loved it, I get off the bandstand and walked over to mom and dad. The first words out his mouth, were," Don't quit your day job". It was his way of saying,"You did good." I learned from a valuable lesson from this years later, after he died. My mother told me that dad was really impressed with my performance and he said those words to me to keep me humble and my feet on the ground. To help keep me focused and never let the ego get a hold of me.
Thanks Daddy, next to God and Jesus you are a hero to me!

I know him and mom both are watching, plus my wife (aka The Red head.) They all have been doing it for years.
