Some of you have a lot of musical experience. Which one of you played/play the big band sound. I was watching Lawerence Welk re-eun and thought some of you may have do some of this and some may still be playing this sound _________________ "Oh what a tangled web we weave when we first begin to deceive" Someone Famous |

Do you live close to where the northern lights can be seen. Like Sarah, can you see Russia. To keep it steel related. Is there any steel music that is generic to Alaska I guess like Swing is considered a Texas thing. Darn, I bet when you and a Texan get together A real debate begins bout the size of the state _________________ "Oh what a tangled web we weave when we first begin to deceive" Someone Famous |

Forum member Basil Henriques plays that style. I do too. But I'm just starting out on pedals. So I'm not yet a good example to follow. _________________ Amor vincit omnia |

Our country/swing band dabbles in big band now and then. It's kind of hard not to if you are really going to play swing. We have used as many as 4 horns with the band, but it's rare. We generally have steel, fiddle and lead. We have a killer rhythm section with upright bass and sometimes Floyd Domino on piano. We like that a lot. I really enjoy songs with arrangements and more than three chords in it. I have finally gotten comfortable with playing in flats and sharps. We also play hard core country. I like that too. |

There are a few things we do where I try to cover the "horn" section. Works fairly well. |
