I lost the sleeve notes of the Curly Chalker Nevada Breaks cassette I bought ages ago off Tom Bradshaw, so can anyone tell me who the sax player is on "Green Green Grass Of Home" ?

Nevada Breaks was a selection in my Steel Guitar Cassette Club back in the '80s. I can't remember which selection it was, but the Club didn't last too long. I regret to say that I can't remember the name of the sax player or any of the other sidemen used on the recording. However, if anyone still has a copy of the Newsletters that I provided with each Club selection, there will be a listing of all the musicians used for that album (who were members of the combo that Curly played with; the sax player being the group's leader). I think there were only 5 musicians: steel, sax, bass, drums and piano. Curly had wanted a piano player for this recording. The sax player hired the musical director of the band who backed Diana Ross at her Vegas show.

Curly arranged every tune and knew exactly how he wanted the tunes to turn out. I was amazed at how he took charge during the recording session. Curly had always shown me that he had a short fuse. However, he couldn't have been more gracious to me and to all the other musicians during this recording session. Because he was so organized, he saved me a lot of money in recording costs.

I hope someone has a copy of that old Newsletter and can share the information you request. ...Tom

Could have been Bobby Hines. He worked for Curly in Las Vegas for a couple of years playing Steel and also doubling on Sax.

Billy
thanks - I'd forgotten Smile
Just listened again (its at the start of the last track - Houston) and he identifies that sax player as what sounds like "J.R.Lando".
