Isn't it fun to discover that someone you knew way back has made the Big Time? I get a real kick out of
that. We all have probably known someone on the way up or maybe went to school with someone who became succcessful in their field; Music, business, medicine, politics or technology.

Well, my latest discovery is an absolute thrill for me. Quite by accident I came across a name on YouTube and it looked very familiar. I was right.
Brandi Carlile. Anyone acquainted with her music?

You see, in 1993 I got involved with a little dinner theater operation in Auburn Washington. The first weekend of every month they put on a sort of Opry style country music show. I often played steel in the house band and we backed up a variety of local talent. One of the regular cast was a nice lady named Teresa Carlile. She would sing a Judds song or a Forrester Sisters song and often be accompanied by her son and daughter (10 year old Brandi) singing harmonies.

Over the next 10 years we became friends and Teresa would call me up to put a band together to back her up at the Black Diamond Eagles Club or other such spot. Again, her son and daughter were always there to get up and sing songs of their own or back mom up. In 1998, Brandi gave me a CD of 4 songs she had recorded with her high school friends. I still have it by the way.

I have not been in touch with Teresa since we moved to Arizona in 2003 and I must not have been paying attention. So I am delighted that I stumbled onto her material and proud that she had the guts to stick with it and follow the dream.

Google Brandi Carlile
This is so cool.
