I'm listening to his album 'Git With It' and a lot of the steel guitar parts sound like pedal steel. Did he really do all that on his gitsteel? |

Once when I was at the Show-Pro shop, Jeff was setting up a Sho-Bud with longer legs and long pedal rods for Jr. to play standing up. Jeff was also making special knee levers that Jr. could use with his hips. So, I know he at least has a pedal steel, but whether or not he has recorded with it, I don't know. |

He plays pedal steel on his albums, at least the first two. _________________ Dave Zirbel-

Yes! I'm starting to wonder if he should get more recognition than he has. |

Junior played great E9 and C6 on a ShoBud years before the Guitsteel came along. |

Bobby, I think Junior does a lot of recording with his guitsteel. He's got two guitsteels-one for live shows and one for studio use.

He may play some pedal steel on his albums. But he gets lots of pedal steel sounds on his git-steel. He is good with slants, may do some behind the bar pulls, and reaches up to twist tuning keys, or pull or press strings in the keyhead or beyond the bridge. He is all over the instrument and is amazingly quick. You hear lots of string bending, but it's hard to tell how he does it all. He's a magician. |

Well, if the steel on "Semi Crazy" (the ultimate truck driving song, by the way) isn't a pedal steel, then his playing is even more amazing than I thought. |

He does play pedal steel on some cuts in the studio. If you listen closely you cand hear the difference, but he does indeed do some things on his Git-steel that almost sound like he has pedals. I just saw him a couple of weeks ago and he did a few bends behind the bar and he does some dang hot chord inversions on his 8 string. His change over from the guitar neck to steel is amazingly smooth. |

I'm pretty sure he's playing the straight steel on this one and yes it is amazing. |

I can attest to what Bob B posted-Last time I spoke with Junior was when He called me a few months ago-He is working on a pedal-guitsteel that is going to be a Sho-Bud single neck with the guitar part added to it-I believe Jeff Surrat of Sho-Pro is working on or has completed it-Junior will be able to play pedal steel standing up and He has spoken of "Hip levers" that will work similiar to knee levers except He will have to dance around a little to engage them |

I know when he plays the Guitsteel that he uses a flat pick and two metal fingerpicks. I wonder if he uses those when he "sits down" to a regular pedal steel or switches to a thumbpick.......JH in Va. _________________ Don't matter who's in Austin (or anywhere else) Ralph Mooney is still the king!!! |

The Semi-Crazy CD liner notes only states steel guitar.
I'd be willing to bet dollars to donuts that the Semi cut is definitely pedal steel per Per's comment though. Parole Board cut on the same CD and a couple more sure sound like pedal steel to me. I don't believe some of these runs could be executed on a fixed tuning. Diffucult even for Junior.
I love Junior's playing no matter which instrument he chooses. He plays with such energy and command.
[OOPS! Sorry Glen, I went slightly off topic. You asked about the Git With It album. I don't know if I've heard anything off that, so I couldn't comment about the instruments played on it.]

You know, I just noticed on his Greatest Hits CD it says "Featuring The Greatest Guilt-Steel Hits".
Guilt-Steel? I thought it was Guit-Steel. Surely not a typo on a CD cover? |
