That may be a left-handed lap steel; but if it's a right-handed one
is seems the position markers would be covered by your hand.
The markers would be OK on the outside edge. |

I was thinking the same thing. When I do offset makers I put them on the far side.

Hey guys... Long-time listener, first-time caller...
This guitar has me intrigued, as I've been hoping to build something similar.
If I'm reading the text correctly, this guitar is fully hollow... Being an electric, wouldn't this lead to massive feedback problems with those pickups?
What i've been planning to build would be similar, except the pickups (and bridge) would be mounted to a routed-out solid body.
Thoughts?

I would think if was a left handed guitar, the bass strings would be reversed. i don't think the markers really matter where they are, you cover them up with your hand no matter what when you get there.
You only need to see the markers when your headed there. And for the price of a six string, it's not that tasty!

James - that they call this a 'monoshell' suggests to me that it's exactly as you describe, one big block of mahogany routed out in various places so as to make it hollow, it's probably solid under the pickups at least (since p-90's mount with screws straight through rather than mounting to the sound board). At 4 lbs., quite a bit of material has prolly been routed out.
The design would lend itself to automation very well, I'm thinking it would take under 12 hours to build one (minus finishing).
