Just had a wonderful conversation with an olde steel playing friend of years ago. He's become afflicted with arthur-itus and has gotten rid of all of his music equipment. One of his guitars was pictured on
the Forum a few months back with his last name displayed on the front center of his guitar.

If I remember accurately, he sold his triple Sho-Bud for $400.00 +/-; His Fender bass for $1,400.00; his older Emmons for $4,000 +/- and he's had to walk away from his music. So very sad. He said the Emmons went to someone in Texas and had been previously owned by Buddy Emmons.

He mentioned sort of off the cuff, that a certain Bigsby guitar featured in the BIG BIGSBY BOOK of late, was recently sold to a collector in New York (or somewhere) for near $100,000.00

So I can't help but wonder what my pristine Quad-8 BIGSBY steel guitar (1956), one owner, never modified or damaged in any way, nor hocked at a shoppe for cash, might be worth.

Ray,
Maybe the Federal Reserve could use your Bigsby to back the Dollar. Might be better than gold!

It has "RAY MONTEE" emblazoned on the front, so that should raise its value considerably. Very Happy

Well,

If you found someone with a lot of cash, who loved Bigsby steels and just happened to also be named Ray Montee...I'm sure that it would be their dream guitar and worth even more!!! Very Happy

I really like the Federal Reserve idea!!!

Your guitar is a masterpiece...and so are you!!!

Casey
