does that middle vertical knee lever require repositioning your leg? is that common on a single 12 string?

That change lowers the fifth string from B to Bb which, as David Doggett writes elsewhere, "switches you from a major to a minor 3rd with the A and B pedals down" I don't know if it is common, but I just fold up the left right lever when I use it. It can be "re-programmed" pretty easily, though.
