These seem a bit pricey at bananasmusic.com
in San Rafael, Ca but I don't know.

Just posted FYI.

Gibson 1955-1956 Gold Top Century 6 Lap Steel 800.00

Rickenbacher (Rickenbacker) 1937-1938 Electro Model B Lap Steel 3000.00

You are right about the prices, however the Gibson is a seven string, and the Rickenbacker is really a Bakelite Spanish guitar. Both are unusual in their own way.

Joe and Ron,
The "goldtop" is an Ultratone 7-string and is pretty rare. Were the economy a little better that would be a low price for that unusual and rare piece.

Ron is exactly right about the Rick. It's not a lap steel. It is a Model B Spanish and appears to have a Vibrola unit in it. Some consider it to be the first commercially available electric guitar. I don't think it is really too pricey, but given the current state of the economy, who knows.

Judgeing by the holes in the upper plates, that Rick might well be one of the vibrato models with the built in motor that moves the tailpiece back and forth.

The Ultratone is no longer listed on the web site, but I'm not at liberty to say why.
