I have an Ion USB turntable for putting vinyl on CD. The folks I got it from have lost or misplaced the disc. I wanted to download the software from Ion's website, but they want a name, address, email etc., and possibly product registration. Is this info necessary and/or safe? The software apparently is ez vinyl converter 2. Would it be safe to download it from one of the other software sites that list it?

I'm not sure I'm comfortable entering too much personal info. What do you guys suggest?

Use fake info and temporary email address.

For instance:
http://www.guerrillamail.com/

IMO if you bought the product you're entitled to the updated software. It's annoying that they would require an address in order to receive software that most likely fixes problems with bugs in the software you bought.

If you're sure that it's the same software somewhere else then just get it there, but using a temporary email takes 2 seconds. If you give someone your email address every time they ask you're going to get nothing but spam.

By the way, ZIP code 12345 is Schenectady, NY, should you need to know that Smile
