Does anyone know of any instructional materials (courses, CD, tapes, DVD, etc) that cover Rockabilly pedal steel. I'd be interested in anything. But I'd really like to see some advanced materials that translate rockabilly guitar to pedal steel.

| I've never heard of such instruction materials. But I have played pedal steel in rockabilly bands. I found the 6th neck fits best with rockabilly. I play an E9/B6 universal and mostly found myself in the B6 mode. On a D10, you'd be on C6. A is the most common rockabilly key. E would be second most common. Musically, Rockabilly is a blend of swing, country and blues. You really don't need much from the pedals. You could do it all on a no-pedals C6. But on pedal steel that pedal 6 gets a work out and eliminates the most common slant. Just think swing chords with a rock'n'roll beat, heavy on the back beat. |
