There are many over time, but the coolest I've seen is Buddy Charleton. That cocked head, famous smirk, and the ease in how he plays lets everyone know he is in control. Checkout "Cool It" on you-tube. |

Corky Owens is a cool cat, never, ever seen him get out of shape when under fire....He's very comfortable behind his axe.
Gary Carpenter - Always looks like he's having fun, once saw him in so much pain (back had gone out he couldn't even stand up)refused to give up the ghost and played the rest of the night, during break several had to help him up off his pac-a-seat then sit him back down to play. |

Good thread.
Jimmy day scared me.
I liked watching Speedy West.
Buddy Emmons has that infectious smile and just exudes cool.
RR has a good stage presence.
Jimmy day tho...i get the feeling he would like to beat me up afer the show. |

Lloyd Green.Cool.
Ever since he put out the album Cool Steel Man, that name has stuck with him.
Oh and I should add: Egil Skjelnes of Norway exudes that same air of coolness. I think Egil has learned from the right people _________________ BenRom Pedal Steel Guitars

Hi, Regarding cool, I agree with Mark Edwards that Corky Owens is really cool and unflappable. I've seen him perform twice in Ireland and he's just awesome. To top that, he's also one of the nicest guys you could meet.
Lloyd also exudes that coolness. I suppose it's to do with confidence in your own ability and knowing your instrument inside out. That can only come from years of hard work which, I'm sure both Lloyd and Corky have put many hours into. Lloyd is also a super nice guy! |

Yes of course I should have mentioned Larry Sasser too.
He has LOTS of the cool factor.
I guess it's hard to mention only one cool picker when it comes to the pros. They all have their own brand of coolness... _________________ BenRom Pedal Steel Guitars

I have a lot of respect for all steel players and my husband I know it a true gentleman who would help anyone and never brags about his playing along with being a Christian and a wonderful husband...but other than him of coarse, I would vote for John Hughey. He would answer any questions for any one, always had a smile, never bragged either, you never knew when he made a mistake (if he ever did) lol, was the most kind, caring, loving Christian steel player I have ever known. We still miss him. Laurie |

I second that along with Buddy, Buddy, Paul, Lloyd, Jeff, David, and John Hughey. But there are so many cool attitudes to list, we would be here forever....which would be a good thing. _________________ Patrick Goodbla
