Can the in / out RCA spring reverb jacks on Fender Twins be useful as an effects send and return ? |

Mark,
I used to use a device made by David Hicks that did exactly that very well! It may have been called a "Fender Mender" but It's been too long ago for me to remember for sure. All you do is put it between the reverb in/out and the tank in/out. Perhaps you can find one on eBay, or craigslist _________________ Best regards,

Here is what I found on the Fender Mender (it appears to go between the two preamp tubes, not in the reverb chain):

fwiw, I once wanted to put a pre-deley on a fender reverb and tried using some RCA-to-1/4" adapter jacks to put a deley pedal in series with the reverb tank wires.
It didn't work at all.
I tried hooking it up a coupla different ways but the signal that runs to the reverb tank was not deleyed at all. |

Generally, no. There's no control for the signal going through the tank other than the reverb control, and without some input and ouput level controls, you run into problems due to the different impedances and the amount of signal.
If you're not satisfied with simply routing the EFX through the front input jack, a good tech can add effects "send and return" jacks to the amp, and also add a level control for proper balance. |

Pete, I believe the Hicks divice was called the "Mender 2". It was solid state, powered by a 9 volt battery and created an FX loop which you could blend in with the existing reverb, using a trim knob.
