I have a friend that brought one by,He was wondering if there was any way to make them go comepletly quiet? It seems to always have some volume.

Actually it does have an adjustment. If you remove the bottom plate you will see that the fiberboard slider with the "light blocks" is held tightly by a spring clip that is screwed down at the base. If you loosen the screw you can slide the spring backward and forward and that adjusts the on/off set point.
