Hi Andy, go to this website about National fingerpicks history and you can get directed to Roy's Own picks. I've never tried any but they have peaked my interest because of the effort described to make them as close to the old National picks.

Hey Bob thanks, I saw that website a couple of weeks ago but was hoping to find them in a USA steelers vendor and order some extra stuff to save on shipping. I may turn to Canada if nothing else pops up though. _________________ Emmons S10, p/p, Nashville 112, Zion 50 tele style guitar, Gibson LP Classic w/Vox AC30, Fender Deluxe De Ville and a Rawdon-Hall classical |

Hey Bob, I appreciate the referral to the Banjo Store. They have the picks and a couple of other things I need too. Thanks. _________________ Emmons S10, p/p, Nashville 112, Zion 50 tele style guitar, Gibson LP Classic w/Vox AC30, Fender Deluxe De Ville and a Rawdon-Hall classical |

I just ordered a pair the other day from the banjo store. I have one pair of the older nationals whose tone I just can't find duplicated in any other picks--not even the retro nationals--they just don't sound the same.
I'm gonna try Roy's picks in hopes they come close to the origional national.
Also picked up some single-banded straight blade and angled blade Propicks while I was at it--The endless search for the right fingerpicks has begun. |

Hey Phil, I know exactly what you mean re; the old National picks. I'm down to one, and when I use it w/any other finger pic, you can feel and hear the difference between the two. Also, I think the mfg. process was different then than the new nickel silver alloys because the older Nationals are really tough to shape (stiff metal?) you really need a pair of needle nose pliers to help bend the metal. But once you get them "dialed in", they stay that way and stay in place very well. _________________ Emmons S10, p/p, Nashville 112, Zion 50 tele style guitar, Gibson LP Classic w/Vox AC30, Fender Deluxe De Ville and a Rawdon-Hall classical |

Walter; I did go to the website& looking at the prices they charge, if I didn't missread them, I'm cheating myself bad just charging $8.00 shipped fo a pair of Nationals or Dunlops. But as I said to start, I;m not doing it to make a lot of money, just hoping to help Steeler Brothers with a problem.
Didn't I see $34.00 for 1 pair of picks. Scared me right there. . Andy H. |
