In spectacular original condition. Virtually unplayed. Has original tags and strap still in the mint cond original case.
There are VERY few this clean. The guards on these guitars all shrink a tiny bit and crack around the screws.. Thats the extent of the "problems"..
One of these guitars just sold @ 3K on ebay, with 20 bids.. It was all lacquer checked, had non original tuners and knobs , non original bridge, and had some normal playwear. The guy charged $50 to ship it too..
My FB III is a collectors grade instrument, is in eyepopping no excuse, no funny business condition, NO breaks or repairs,NO playwear to speak of and has the original tags including the $279 price tag [1966] from Mcneil Music here in Ithaca NY.
This is a VERY fair deal @ $3K + $35 shipping and insurance.
Not many exist in this condition these days.
It sits in the closet as it has for the past 43 years.. A shame really.. I can't take the chance of taking it to a 2 bit bar gig and having it take a nosedive off a guitar stand.. I would be devastated. I hope it goes to someone that has a chance to play it and enjoy it.
I may accept some trades up to $1000-1500 or so, but the 3 K value is set in stone.. If you disagree check prices nationally.. Many vintage shops price these in he 5-6 K range.
Old vintage gear always gets first dibs with me.. I will deal right on this guitar, but prefer vintage or high end USA guitars and amps... As far as steels go, I am always on the lookout for a round front Bud S10 with tone and vol knobs, and ORIGINAL coil tap switch intact.. Nothing else in steels needed right now.. Small tube amps w/ reverb or anything in Fender Blackface amps is desirable... Try me, I may bite on anything depending on the day, hour, color of my socks, and whether or not I had a romantic interlude that day.
This is a beauty guys, honestly... Its just time to go....... I am getting older, get no real joy out of stacks of cool guitars, can't play them all anyway, and am cutting down to a ""mere"" 7 or so guitars... I grow weary of seeing them stacked all over the house- in the dust- untouched for years at a time...bob

Thanks for the many trade offers guys... I just don't need anything really. Actually, I have been doing a lot of soul searching, and have decided to keep this Firebird... I guess 3K is a fair price for a Bird, its not a 335 or Les Paul, but I have come to the conclusion that I cannot replace this guitar for anywhere close to 3K.. If I missed it and wanted another, I would have to shell out closer to 5K, for one in this pristine condition.....
As I stated to several guys.. I don't need the guitar, don't use it, but really don't need the money either.. I have been getting rid of a lot of gear lately, and once its gone, realized I would have to pay far more for the same item in the same condition as the one I just sold.. Bad way to do business,, anyway, thanks for the replies, but I can't part with this gorgeous guitar right now..bob _________________ I'm over the hill and hittin'rocks on the way down!

Good move Bob..I'm glad you're keeping it..(unless you want my '67 ES 335!!) |
Well Chris.. it CAN be had!!!.. The price??..
1 1967 ES 335 takes this Bird home!!
actually,If your 335 is clean, straight, unbroken, unchanged, unmolested, and unrepainted, its worth more than twice what the same year non reverse Firebird is worth.. bob _________________ I'm over the hill and hittin'rocks on the way down!

Bob, Am I glad you decided to keep this one. I no longer have to loose sleep about what to sell to be able to afford it. |

I've had my 335 since '81, and the only things changed are an added stop tail and a new nut..it is a walnut 335..sounds and plays beautifully..Didn't realize its value..used it on one solo on my last cd in '06 and it sits like yours in its original case! _________________ https://www.reverbnation.com/bigredandtheresonators |
