I ordered one of Mickey Adam's new instructional books, and it arrived today. Unfortunately, to my dismay the DVD included with the book was cracked/broken in two, just as if the Post Office had tried folding it. Anyway, I sent an email to Mickey to let him know. I cannot say enough good things about the great service he provides. Not only did he respond right away, and I'm talking within minutes of me sending the note, but he sent another note to me a few minutes after that one to tell me he has already dropped the replacement DVD in the mail!!!

Now that is Service with a smile!!!

I salute Mickey for such great service!!!

And the book looks great, can't wait to get started on it.

I too ordered one of Mickey Adam's new instructional books, and it arrived today. The DVD arrived with no apparent damage although I haven't watched it yet. However, it was crammed into my mail box, and I had to be very careful removing it to prevent it from being damaged.

I got my book today too! Of course the mail man stuffed mine into the box too, bending it somewhat to where it's shape isn't exactly the way I'd hoped. The books probably need some cardboard support to prevent this kind of treatment by USPS, but, Mickey was kind enough to dedicate #3 to me with his signature. I'm looking forward to delving into this book as well. Thanks Mickey for your laborious contribution!

May I suggest writing or stamping "Handle With Care"
or "DVD Enclosed In This Package" on the outside of the package.

As a postmaster for 29 years I suggest the following:

The envelope/package should be marked in large, easily-read letters "Please Do Not Bend or Fold", preferably close to the address. It's a good idea to put CD's in some sort of protective plastic case or between heavy cardboard.

Doing so will not guarantee a mailpiece from being damaged or mishandled, but it will lessen the possibility.

Everyone!!! The books that have already been processed are shipping in a USPS mailer that offers NO protection...If You for any reason recieved a damaged DVD I will replace it immediately. I will also replace the DVD if it fails at any later date for the cost of shipping, about 5.00..I hope you will all bear with me as I iron out the bugs with this new endeavour...Thank you..
And Chuck, and all of you..thank for the kind words...they are greatly appreciated...

What work that was put into the making of this project, and the hours spent in developing such a great work of art, Micky you've out done yourself with this project, it is absolutely great.
Anyone wanting to learn from the beginning to a never ending learning from a teacher (instructor)with a passion of love for Steel Guitar and his ability to helping his fellowman or ladies needs to buy this book. You won't be disappointed.
I just received mine today late getting home, put it in the player and it worked just fine, no problems.
Micky called me to make sure I received it today, what a guy, I'm proud to call him my friend, what an honor.

Please allow me to try and clear up any questions about the content of my book. I had one buyer say he figured it was a tabbed book of all of my Youtube videos. This is not the case. The title Is BEGINNERS GUIDE. Within the book you will find BASIC theory lessons for starters. Diatonic chord paths are outlined and how the Number system is derived from them. There are several repetitive fingering exercises aimed at eliminating potential road blocks to speed-picking (Rotating Fingering Patterns, repetitious exercises)
An in depth (Beginners) map of the fretboard, and how the primary pedals and levers affect common string groups of Major and Minor Chords, and THIER realtionships therein. A 24 fret Chord Chart, 11 pages of simple to complex tab in the back. Patricia posted a Contents page somewhere in here as well. At this link [url]
http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=159352&highlight=contents
you can see the fretboard chart, number system pathways for all keys, pedal/lever combinations, and an interval chart. This chart is perforated and can be removed to your music stand for reference. A PDF file of her previous chart (Much more complex) will be sent via email. It is POSTER SIZE!!!..And this is just for starters. As with ANY publication, it is impossible to contain EVERYTHING KNOWN TO MAN in 1 book. Laughing I will be happy to answer Any and all questions you may have...Please feel free to email me directly

I have to concur: Mickey Adams has garnered my utmost respect! As a new member on the forum here, I can honestly say it's Mickey Adams' videos on YouTube which are some of the most helpful instruction I've had in my short 3 years on the steel. The fact that he is an active member here is what led me to join. He also inspired me to jump from a Carter Starter to a Mullen SD-10! And though Im not a pilot like Mr Adams, I am an avid flight sim flyer nonetheless haha. (I laughed at the post about... Mickey, while youre at it, explain Back Course navigating) The thing I like most (besides his natural talent) is that he is so affable that I feel like I know him well already. Im about to send him some $$ for his new book now. I advise (BUMP) any other newbies like me to do the same and support someone who has selflessly done so much, with so little, for so long, to help so many, that he is now qualified to do anything with nothing!

Thank you all for your comments. Your support and encouragement mean the world to both Mickey and myself.

Mickey, I am so happy to have helped you achieve this goal. And eternally greatful for your encouragement and guidance. You really are the greatest!

As much as I tried to ensure the instruction book was error free, I've found a small mistake on the chart on page 44 - when I was studying major chord locations.

The third line on the first table - the chord construction for the key of D - lists the D Major Chord as D F# Ab. As a beginner myself, I didn't catch that the D Major is actually D F# A.

Please "white out" the 'b' changing that Ab to A.

If you would like a replacement page in .pdf by email please send me a message and I will forward it on to you.

And, please forgive the mistake.

Thank you,
Patricia

AJ, I responded immediately to your emails, please check your Junk mail folder.
Trish...We've found a few more...(minor errors)
Clete...Back course navigation!...LOL..we rarely use this anymore as GPS and WAAS are eliminating Non precision approaches at the rate of about 400 per year. Widely misunderstood..Localizers emit a reverse polarity signal in the opposite direction as the "front Course". When flying a back course we merely need to turn our CDI's backwards...In other words, we appear to be flying away from the station. The BC button on your autoplilot merely reverses the polarity of you flight director so the autopilot will reverse sense as well. I have ALWAYS dummed them down for fear of mistakingly tuning or activating a required mode...So I simply turn the CDI backwards and fly "to the needle"...

Book Notes:...For those of you that order next week...I will be in FLorida from the 16th until the 24th of June. I will be taking several copies with me to try and keep up...From Trish and i both...we are very grateful for your overwhelming response to the book...In Grand Turk tonight!>...Mickey

2 weeks prior to my books release Patricia and I posted the contents of this book. The title is Beginners Guide to Mastering the E9 pedal steel guitar. Nowhere in this book, or in previous posts does it state that It was a compilation of Youtube videos that are tabbed out. There is a reason that I took this approach to teaching beginners. With a basic theory understanding, and a little studying...eventually one can free themselves from having to be taught...And from relying solely on Tab..
Printed material is easily copied. All of the authors that I have talked to have stated that refunds for printed material are not accepted. However AJ, I like to think that I am not most people. If your objective like you stated in your email was to "just learn songs" then I understand your position. I will refund your money provided the material is delivered to my house intact, minus the costs that I have already incurred. I have, and do maintain responsibility for delivering an intact product to my customers, but I cannot be responsible for the material if damaged by the USPS being returned, and as you stated...It made it to your address intact. If anyone that reads this post would like to buy AJs copy, I will warrant the delivery to them. I am out of the country, and will return Friday...

Thought I would add my 2 1/2 cents worth on this subject. I think Mickey has done well and alot of people dont know how much time it takes to make books, videos, tabs and so on. I think also the format of his book is well informed to me it is very very important to learn theory that should be somewhere on the top priority list for if you learn a little theory everyday you will most likely be able to sit down to any musical instrument and once you learn how its tuned you will also be able to play it as well. Ive left several comments on his you tube videos but he is a little slow at responding back. but I know that he is a very busy man with his music. so good luck with your books Mickey and also new players take advantage of any learning material you can get and I always say this with tab, just dont read tab and play it close the book and learn to write it out of your head if you put it to memory that way then you can put your heart into your playing more

Joe , forgive me for not replying to your Youtube posts...I certainly try when I have time to address everyone that writes. My flying schedule has been pretty hectic lately. Between that and being a postal clerk..LOL>..Im pretty strapped for time. I am however already working on the addendums for the video that came with the book for Youtube. It is my hope that I can find enough ideas to keep a lot of the beginners interested, and continued with the learning porocess. As I have stated before..The best part of all of this is that MY playing is improving dramatically.. I certainly appreciate your input Joe.. Thank you for taking the time to post here on this forum thread...
