Hey All,
Im a newer player starting to get out to the clubs.

I have trouble playing quiet songs, well, loud.
When my amp (NV1000) isnt able to be mic'd, where should I be setting my master gain and pre gain to get a good sound that I can play quiet songs without getting horrible noise when picking.

Obviously I know I need to work on my right hand technique, but are there any other tips?

thanks!

Generally speaking, the higher the pre-amp gain setting is the more sensitive the input will be. This, in addition to making your sound more distorted, will tend to bring out extraneous noises such as the bar scraping on the strings and clicking and the like from your picks.

I would suggest you experiment with the master all the way up and bring up the pre-amp gain to set the overall volume level. This will usually give you the cleanest sound and would also minimize the extraneous noises. Then you can experiment with reducing the master vol. by degrees and increasing the pre-amp gain until you find a setting that works best for the sound you want to achieve.

Do you use a foot volume pedal ? I always set my Amp up for the sound I wanted along with plenty of gain. When playing softer or background music, just ease off of the foot control. The foot control is not only for volume but also exspression as you play differtn't kinds of songs.

You might have the wrong taper in your potentiometer.
