Well I had my sister pick up my first steel today that I happened to find off of the internet. It is an older Marlen 3x4 which included a volume pedal bar, picks and some instruction videos for $700. I think I did really good. Only problem is that I have to wait until July to get my hands on it due to the distance issue and no case to ship it in. I was wondering if anyone had a manual for it as it is a pull release version. I know, I know most would have probably avoided it because of the changer type but I think it will prove better than some of the other options I had for what I wanted to spend. Ive been lucky so far with finding good used equipment for a good price as I picked up a peavey ltd 400 last week for $150. Now if only I'll be able to learn.

Welcome to the club Mike. Those old pull/release Marlins, and Sho-Buds are some of the best sounding guitars around.Clean it up, new strings, tune it up, and have at it.There are a lot of folks familiar with this type setup that will be glad to help. A simple tuning method (with pedal/knee lever engaged)is when the changer finger is against the body (raised)tune with the keys, when away from the body(lowered), tune with the screws at the changer.Hope this helps.

Bill, Thanks for the info. I have seen that there have been mixed reviews on this changer type but from what I have heard of the Marlens I like the sound.
