Here are two beauties from the Greg Jones ZB Mansion in Kentucky, - D10 1108 and D11 0219. Marv Fluger enhanced their bodies, and Greg checked their plumbing and other features, and - slurp, slurp - they finally came to me in Norway.
And no, Duncan, they will not be going to Florida for spring break!
In June yet another ZB will arrive, this time it`s a D!! converted to a SD11 by none other than Billy Knowles.
It`s an honor for me to have these guitars through Greg and Billy, - Superman and Batman of the ZB World! |

It worked for me when I posted my ZB pictures on page 79 of the ZB Please Help thread.
Greg just got my ZB in and is going to make it shine and sing. Isn't he just amazing?! |

Steinar. Is Norway the place for ZB guys? If so I may think about moving there. Your guitars are beautiful. I know what they sound like. |

Jerry, thanks for your mail, - I will take some more pictures and post, - now that I know how, thanks to you and Bill.
Chuck, I think that we`ve got 5 ZB guitars here in Norway.
Even Zum stalwart Dag Wolf has got one, - 1041 - and Greg is now putting it through finishing school before it`s transatlantic journey.
Greg has just done outstanding work on my own ZB`s, - and both were modelled after Tom Brumley´s Carnegie Hall guitar.
He even came to Norway to service his babies this last January!
Judging from Billy`s picture, this new one will also be quite a guitar. The whole winter, Billy has mailed me asking questions about the height of my knees, my usual sitting distance from the guitar etc. etc.. The meticulous care and concern he put into getting this guitar just right, is impressive! Talk about quality control!
Again, I feel privileged and honored to get guitars from Greg and Billy. |

I bet the guy in the middle could comment on the sound of a ZB also.

That HAS to be the great Willie Cantu, drummer for the classic Buckaroo band. I watched him all night in Nashville once not knowing who he was. I commented to my friends that the drummer was real good. I found out two days later that it was Willie Cantu. He is a great drummer. Thats ZB guru Greg Jones on the right. |

Yes, Kevin, you`re so very right, Willie Cantu.
He came to Norway in January to give a drum clinique and to play a Buck Owens Tribute Show in Bergen. Wonderful guy, terrific drummer, and chock full of anecdotes and stories about his career as a Buckaroo.
Greg Jones also came over with his silver sparkle Tele and rhinestone jacket to be Don Rich with the backing band, and that he did to a T!
Kevin, I`ve got your split cases for both 1108 and 0219, and they`re great. Distribute the weight very nicely!
Thanks for good work, Kevin! |

Hello Steinar,
You probably should reconsider sending all your ZBs to Florida for a break. It is a well known fact that ZBs hate lutefisk (I'll bet that is all that you are feeding them. That's why their poor little tummies ache and are always upset). ZBs much prefer grouper, snapper (all varities) and freshwater crappie. All of a ZB's favorite fishys are readily available very close to my home, some even in my backyard. That, sir, is why my Florida-stabled ZB thrive and Joe's ZB is sick.
In any event, your ZB is a beauty and I hope and pray that you continue to play all your steels in happiness and excellent health.

That picture was taken at the Oslo Airport when Willie flew in. Steinar and I knew he would recognize the jackets so we wore them instead of holding up a "Willie Cantu" sign. Of course he realized we were there to pick him up when he saw the jackets. Getting to spend a few days with Willie and sharing the stage with him was a real treat. He is the best drummer I have ever worked with and of course Steinar is a great host. Not only is Steinar a fine steel player but he is also a rock solid bassist!!!!

Dear Duncan.
Sorry about my tardy reply, but I`ve been busy eating lutefish and shovelling snow up here in Northern Norway. And I was thinking about poor you, sweating under your relentless sun down there in Florida and digging for water.
And I was even more worried about your ZBs, - why, with all the humidity and even infrequent hurricanes. Besides, all the Spanish flavored cuisine down there must wreak havoc on their delicate undercarriages!
Since you are much appreciated here in the ZB family, I could probably take a big burden off your sun parched shoulders by adopting your guitars. Just send them over, and I`ll make sure they get a steady supply of Norwegian Omega 3, no life- or steelguitar threatening hurricanes, and even - possibly - therapeutic visits by some well known ZB doctors in the future.
Now, this won`t cost you a penny, Duncan, after all, we do take of each other here on the Forum, right?!
I`m sure your guitars would love to go to Europe, - the journey would do them a world of good, and we just want the best for our beloved ZBs, right??
Wishing you a wonderful Sunday,
Steinar
ps. 0219 and 1108 wholeheartedly stand by this invitation, and Duncan, you`ll have a place to stay and unlimited visitation rights should you decide to buy skis and brave the Northern Hemisphere. |
