I need a new or a good used black Emmons plate for a push-pull. Where can I get one?
Thanks,

The Emmons Guitar Company may be able to help you with that. |

I've got an old plastic Emmons name plate. It came off a previous guitar, a 74 PP. It doesn't have any scratches but it is slightly yellowed. You may have it if you want it, just email your address and I'll get it sent right out.
Best regards,
Jerry |

Just curious. . . which name plates came first - the plastic or the metal ones? What year did Emmons switch from the decal to the plate logos? |

I also understand that some of the early Emmons nameplates had a brown background instead of black. |

Try a "white-out" pen. |

Mike, I had a very early rosewood 70's PP that had the brown "metal" plate. I believe they were before the plastic ones.
Craig, I sent the black plastic Emmons plate to you in this mornings mail. It wasn't "yellowed" as I had initially thought. It's in very good shape.
Those Emmons name plates can be restored, refinished, however, it's tedious work. |

I'd like to add. I always thought that the brown Emmons plates looked great on the rosewood and the "satin" walnut mica guitars. It's my understanding that they discontinued the brown plates long ago. Doug, just curious, is your brown Emmons plate metal or plastic? |

Doug,
My '71 had the brown metal badge but I liked the looks of the black one better, so I changed it. I still have the brown one put away in case I ever decide to change it back. The brown logo is NOT for sale.

Ok Doug, now your reply should be-----
So Nick, why the H#*&^ did you even bring it up?
Seriously CE, Those are available from Emmons for around $8.00. Give 'em a call and they should be able to fix you up with a new one.
Cheers!

First Emmons had decals. Then metal, both brown and black. No real shut off date to change to all black. Just what was in stock. By mid 70's only black plastic was available. I never saw any brown plastic ones.

I have a brown metal plate on my 1983 skh legrande. That's probably why it sounds so incredibly good though it's not black or p/p. _________________ 1983 Emmons D10 SKH, Carter SD10, Nashville 112, Session 500, ProfexII, Lapsteels, GT-Beard reso, guitars of all kinds...

Mine has a brown background, and it's pretty worn! If anyone out there has one of these brown logo plates for sale let me know. Or maybe I could just touch this one up with white paint.

Using a light touch, a small (1") sponge trim roller and a little white paint will make that plate look new. (Takes about 10 seconds.) |
