Got my second hand Derby SD-10 from Billy Cooper's about two years ago. I can't find any numbers on it, but, besides my wife, it's the love of my life!
GO FOR IT!!!

Beautiful, deep-blue Derby SD-10, NV-112, TrueTone, and tone that drives 'em all nuts!

You can find the S/N on the end-plate under the #2-neck, at the key-head end of the under-body. My Derby is #401, delivered end of Dec. ’05. And it still l©©ks like new!

A little off topic but going by the serial numbers it looks like Derby Co. was building about 20 Steels a year. Many people on other threads have asked about the annual production rates of various Steel Guitar Builders.

FWIW, I bought #72 from Charlie in sep. '95. It was a used guitar. I'm not exactly sure of the exact date of mfg, but I think I can estimate it is a year or more older than that.

Charles had been building Derby guitars a little over 17-yrs. Don't “Quote” me on this, but; I think I heard that he built approx. 500 units, in all! I would also guess the earlier the year, the more guitars and gradually tapering off slightly in more recent years! The actual age of the instrument doesn't necessarily signify it's condition. I'm sure most of them are still in very good condition! I know my ’05 model is just like new today, in both l©©ks and operation!
