Our 3rd annual MSP(Mississippi Steel Players)Show will be held Dec.5th, 2009. Location is the American Legion Hall in Laurel, MS. Our featured guest this year will be Doug Jernigan. We'll also have several other great players as well. Our first two shows were both full houses and we expect the same on this one. I'm starting to prepare early for this one, as it will really take a lot to top the first two shows we've had. I'll post more on this at different times. Thanks to everybody that's helped us make MSP a success. It takes a lot of work and without the support of friends and players that we have, it wouldn't be possible to continue on. June 20th on the Gulf Coast with Bill Stafford and DSSGA will be our next event to attend. Hope to see everybody there. More later.

Hey Billy.....Looking forward to coming back to Laurel. December is one of my slow months for music, so I'm making preps to make sure I'll be able to be there.....Doug J. is one of my very favorites, and I know that he'll bring the house down with his incredible playing. I want to tell you forumites this, too. Your host for this, Billy Carr, is a monster on the steel, also. He has incredible abilities on the steel. You won't want to miss his set, either. C-Ya there on Dec.5,'09 HAL

Thanks HH, checks in the mail! If your able to make the 12-5 show, I'd like for you and myself to do an hour jam set with Doug. Just off the top of the head pickin', unrehearsed. Jam session. Lots of fun! See ya buddy at Bill's show on the coast!

Have two more Louisiana pickers coming to the 12-5 show. Danny Harrell from Livingston and Royce Tarver from Gonzales. Starting to look like Louisiana will be well represented in Laurel, MS. on Dec.5th folks.

Billy, I've improved remarkably but at this time I can't promise to make it. New bone biopsy in about two weeks and I'll know more at that time. I realy enjoyed your show last year.

Glad your doing better. Come join us in December if you feel up to it. Don't even have to bring a guitar. Maybe your picks. We'll find one there with your set up on it and you can use it. None of the guys will mind. We're all a big family at MSP and look out for and help each other in anyway possible. We're your family. come see us, Howard.

That's right Howard....I spoke to Bro. Gibson yesterday and was inquiring about you, too. I know that from time to time he comes to see ya. If my Rains is setup like yours, you are more than welcome to play it. Hope to see you..........HAL

Our 12-5-09 show will honor Roy Lunn from Jackson, MS. as our MSP Steel Player Of The Year. Roy is 81 years young and still playing his Emmons and Sho-Bud. He started playing steel guitar at the early age of 16 and 65 years later is still at it. Friends and fellow pickers are welcome to post anything here about Roy, if they wish. Bill Stafford received this award in 08' and Laurel, MS. player, Bill Carter got it in 07'. MOre later. Thanks.

Come on down Doc. You know your part of our MSP family. Maybe we can find somebody from around Meridian playing a blue D-10 Mullen to play behind you! You know one of them ole modded guitars! (Seriously, that is probably the best sounding and playing Mullen I've ever set behind).

Great show on the Gulf Coast with Bill Stafford and friends was June 20th. Now, we're working on filling slots for the 12-5-09 MSP Show to be held in Laurel, MS. Several are already complete but still more available. First come, first serve basis until there full. Featured steelman will be the great Doug Jernigan. We'll have Doug in two 30 minute slots plus a jam slot with other pickers later in the show. Lots of fun guys/gals. Weather will be cooler by then also. Just worked up a sweat going to the mailbox a few minutes ago. Wow, it's hot in Mississippi!

Billy I will be there to help appreciate my friend Roy Lund and your MSP org. Thanks for being a BIG part of our DSSG show too. Steel is growing in Mississippi, thanks to guys like you and your staff and family. Great selection for Roy. See you then.
Perhaps you should submit a bio on Roy L so the folks will know who he has played with in those days of the good country music??? Hint, hint.
