I have my third pedal raising string 5(B) to a (C) and string 9(B) to a (C). I want this pedal to bottom out the same as my pedal two.
The problem is that it take very little pedal travel to get form a B to C on pedal three.
To get the pedal to bottom out the same as pedal two I have to increase my pedal throw by quite a bit and rotate my bellcranks back. (have round cross-rods) This created almost a 1/4" of slack in the bellcrank slot before it engages for the raise. Is there another way to do this or is this what I have to accept in order to get this change?
My rods on pedal three are set at A3 for string 5,
and C4 for string 9.
Thanks for any suggestions. |

Hi Tom, Not sure if you can do it (due to other rods possibly being in the way), but I would try rodding it so normal pedal travel gives the least possible travel at the changer fingers (Bell crank position closest to the body, not sure about the changer finger).
I have that change, but I had originally had it going from B>C#, and wanted to be able to return to B>C#, so I just tuned 'em for B>C and live with the free travel. As you say, it takes very little effort to raise B's to C's.
I'll take a look at my Sierra (probably won't have time 'till later this week) and see if I can make a better reccomendation for the desired leverage vs. distance.
