I was listening to some of the Fifties on TheRADIOcom
and they played some Montana Slim (Wilf Carter} songs and the Steel playing was outstanding in tone and technique. Was this Jerry Byrd ?

The biography on his website shows the player to be our own Jody Carver.

JERRY BYRD did indeed, record a number of different tunes with Wilf Carter/Montana Slim.

Not sure if he was on the show you mentioned, however.

Jody most definitely played steel on Wilf Carter (Montana Slim) RCA Victor recordings done in NYC in the early 1950s. When Wilf moved to Decca later in the 50s he recorded in Nashville and it very well could be Jerry on those sessions.
