Does anyone know anything about a 6-string sunburst lacquer finish Gold Tone lap steel? My buddy who works in a local music store took one in and nobody there knows anything about it. I saw it and it is in perfect shape-obviously not played much if any. He says the case is in the same condition. It is beautiful wood and has steel frets like a standard guitar. If anyone could tell me anything about it -age, value, etc I would sure appreciate it. I am a pedal steel player and know very little about the non-pedal guitars, but might buy it if it's a good one. Thanks, Duane Brown |

I just bought one at a local pawn shop a couple of weeks ago.
So far, I really like it. It has the same scale length as my dobro and I can tune it to open G and be in real familiar territory.
They are a copy of the old Oahu lap steels. |

Elderly Instruments has them for $419 (doesn't look like the price includes a case). Repro of the Oahu Tonemaster. I had one for a while, enjoyed playing it, except the one control knob mounted on the player's side tended to get in the way ...Big, full tone. |
