This is the guitar as originally received from Loni:

I stripped it down and fitted an 8 string Hipshot Trilogy changer and roller nut to it. I also routed in flanges on the bottom for three legs. This guitar has two Jason Lollar Stringmaster type pickup with a blend control. The fretboard is tooled leather. It is refinished in Fender Butterscotch Blonde with an overspray of brown sunburst.
I have it tuned for C6th, A6th and a C#m7 tunings.

I just finished it up and thought you might like to take a look see:

That's actually pretty damn cool and I'm sure Loni would approve, although it's more of a Leg Dancer now. Very Happy

It's a kinda Far~Out body style, but; it l©©ks good to me! It has just enough extra surface to it to handle a LUAU for one, but; keep the Poi out of the p/u's!

This looks like a very nice set up with the Trilogy Hipshot changer and I agree making the roller nut was for sure the right thing to do. I am just wondering how well it stays in tune as you go through tuning changes.

I would think if there possibly were any problems with staying in tune, (or coming back to the original tuning) that maybe a roller bridge would make a very nice addition,--- as from what I can see the bridge doesn't look to have rollers. ( I may be wrong ) Smile

Please forgive me because I don't mean to nit pick, as I see really nice craftsmanship on this guitar which I always appreciate. Cool

Thanks to Erv for sharing this project. Smile

The guitar was just weird enough as received from Loni that it didn't bother me to do some modifications to it.

It's a pretty cool guitar! I spent some time getting the changer set up and it makes the changes very accurately.

Tom,
Thanks so much.
I had quite a time refinishing the guitar.
I originally tried to do a sunburst pattern but there really wasn't enough body there to do a good job. I am quite pleased at end result.

A few years ago, I bought a "redneck" from Loni and put it on a Fender Strat along with a Trilogy changer and roller nut.
Here is how that guitar turned out:

Here is an early picture I took, just after I installed the Redneck:

Erv Those are some fancy guitars. Really neat work. Where did the rollerbridges come from or where did you get them?
Thanks in advance and thanks for the religious tabs that you do.

Norm,
The roller bridges come right from Hipshot.
The 6 string stuff is readily available but the 8 string stuff is rather hard to come by.

Glad you like my gospel tabs! Very Happy

On the 8 string guitar I don't change the E on the 1st string.
On the 2nd string I go from C to C#
On the 3rd string I go from A to B
On the 4th string I go from F# to G to G#
On the 5th string I don't change the E
On the 6th string I go from C to C#
On the 7th string I go from A to B
And on the 8th string I go from F# to G to G#

These changes allow me to get A6th, C6th and C#m7 tunings.

I really like the way you have that set up. Cool
If you put E to D# on your 5th string you can get B11th tuning too.

Garry,
Yes, that would be very easy to do.
Each string can be raised or lowered a whole tone.
