I recently purchased a GFI keyless U12 guitar from forum member David Farlow. I just wanted to say thanks to David for a smooth transaction and for parting with this super great guitar. I have been watching the for sale forum for quite sometime for a keyless U12. Having only tried on a GFI at the St. Louis convention, I was a bit apprehensive of GFI guitars but after changing the setup and playing this instrument on three gigs, all doubt is gone. The tone is brighter and cleaner than my Sierra but not as twangy as my LDG SHo-Bud. I haven’t tried the original GFI pickup (has true-tone on it now) and most likely will not, as I love the clear, clean tone of this guitar/pickup combination.
To make the setup the same as my Sierra (mostly Bill Stroud’s copedent) I had to change all the knees, moved the ABC pedals to the right by one creating a zero pedal. I eliminated the 4th (boowaa) pedal, which I rarely used. This major surgery was accomplished in about 2 hours thanks to the design of the GFI. I did have to do some tweaking on some of the bell cranks after reassembly to get the timing of the pulls correct and the pedal travel to my liking. Cabinet drop is negligible with three pulls on the zero pedal and three pulls on the A pedal.
With all that said, in my opinion, the GFI is the most player friendly guitar I have ever been acquainted with, easy to make changes to the copedent, has great tone, stays in tune, light weight, smooth and precise action and very stable. Thanks GFI for a great guitar. _________________ auribus teneo lupum |

I second all that you guys said!! I also have a GFI U12 and about a month ago replaced the original E-66 pickup with a TrueTone. The E-66 was not bad, but to me seemed a bit "muddy". I like the sound of the TrueTone better, which seems to have a bit more clarity when playing multiple strings at once, and seems a bit clearer on the upper frets (above 12). I don't have the PSG experience you two have, but the more I play this GFI U-12 the more I like it!!! This being my first "pro" level PSG, I'm not sorry at all for selecting this to be the first.

I may not sound good, I just don't wanna sound bad. |
