I worked for Gene from '78 to '87. In the early 80s the Opry asked Gene to join. But it was difficult for him to do so due to the fact that he lived in Houston, Tx., not Nashville. The Opry required members to make so-many-number of appearances per year and at that time Gene was real HOT on the charts. If he had resided in the Nashville area he probably would have joined but living in Tx. he would have took a big hit in the billfold to make the commitment to join the Opry at that time. We still played the Opry from time to time and that was always cool. I was lucky enough to record on many of Gene's hits and he sure is one fine singer !! |

Tiny ,
Welcome to the forum !! Everyone could benefit from a fine player's experience and knowledge such as you have so stay active on the forum as your time permits .
I tried sending you an e-mail message about our friend Don Barr . I met you at his funeral if you recall . The address I used that is on the forum ( the little envelope )was returned . Maybe you will want to update it to show a correct e- mail address !
Glad to see you on here and my best goes out
to you and yours !

Ben,
I had the same e- mail experience as you did on my first try using the forum e-mail address . What it ( the forum's ) did not show was a little low ( _ ) in between steelbass and the @ . Try inserting that little ( _ ) dash there and I think you will get through ok . It worked for me ! You will note that the e- mail address in the envelope shown on Tiny's post is underlined . That is the reason you cannot see that little dash because it is covered up
by that long underline .
Hope this helps !
