Some friends of mine have an old Rickenbacker lap steel. The woman half of the friends inherited it from her father who played it quite a bit, I'm told.

Anyways, I've seen lots of pictures of this model but I don't know much about them. I'm going to change the strings and clean up the pots a bit for them. I was hoping to be able to tell them more about it.

So, does anyone know about what year this guitar might have been made?

Or about what it's worth? They don't want to sell it, but it'd be nice to know for insurance reasons.

Thanks!

It's a post war B-6 model, known as a "T-logo". This particular type was made from 1946 and was discontinued in 1950 according to this:

Recently, these have sold on the forum for around $750. That's "real world" value, which may be different from insured value, but I would insure it for at least $800.

About three years ago, I acquired one just like it in equally good shape, w/case, for $450.00.

I picked up another just like it in Hillsboro at a little music store two years ago for $550.00 and they tossed in a Rickenbacher amp.

There's another on eBay at this time for comparison purposes with all of the above posts.
