Asking price of D8 Fender stringmaster on e-bay

There is a 24 1/2 scale 1957 vintage D8 stringmaster on e-bay that appears to be in very good condition with case. It even has the orignal hang tag. The guy is asking $1995.00 for it. Is this a fair price or is it inflated?

I think it's a little high considering each photo shows a defect in the finish or chrome. Maybe closer to $1500 might be a better deal.

I think it's about the going price for a nice mid-50s blonde Stringmaster now. That one has been listed on eBay three times for $2495, it didn't sell, and the seller just relisted it for $1995. He says it's all original. The only issue I see is the small gouge in the body and the usual small dings here and there.

Thanks for the feedback. I want to buy a stringmaster like the D8 I had many, many, many years ago when I was a teenager. This one is a 24 1/4 scale and I would prefer 22 1/2 so I may wait. I was just trying to get a feel for what they are worth today. There are a couple more on e-bay but they don't look as clean.
