Last night I was watching the Opry and Brad Paisley and I am sure that it was a rerun!
I notice that Randle Currie was not playing his MSA but a new guitar which was brown and beige. I could not see the make of it; does anyone know what he was playing on? |

If it was the same episode I saw, he was playing a reddish EMCI. The song they played was "I'm Gonna Miss Her." |

Randle had the brownish/reddish EMCI out with Brad last year. |

I'm not surprised. Steel guitar world's hidden secret.
Welded frames are tone monsters. _________________ John Lazarus

I can vouch for John's!!
His red double-neck in the center of this pic is one of the finest guitars I've ever played.
I'd still be playing it now if he hadn't taken it home.

Believe it or not, Randle played the EMCI before he bought his MSA. In August of 2001, when Brad performed on the Opry after becoming a member, Randle had been playin' the EMCI. This was before "I'm Gonna Miss Her" had become a single because at the time, Brad's song "Wrapped Around" was the latest single at the time and the Franklin was seen in the "Wrapped Around" video. The video that first featured Randle's MSA was "The World" on Brad's "Time Well Wasted" record. I believe Randle still uses his Franklin some in the studio and in the video for Brad's song "Alcohol", Randle is seen playin' a Sho-Bud. The Franklin also appears in the "I'm Gonna Miss Her" video.

He's got his Franklin back out on the road. At least he did the last part of the tour. I would imagine that he's going to keep playing it on the road. It sure does sound good. |
