The Forum was officially moved to Cloverdale yesterday, just in time for Christmas. The office downtown is just a room with a bunch of boxes in it now, but on Wednesday I'm going to unpack it and ship a few CDs.
On Friday, December 28, the Steel Guitar Forum will be five years old. That's right! Five years ago I got a wild hair and cobbled together the first incarnation of this institution. I've been racking my brain trying to remember how I promoted it at first. I really don't remember what brought those first posters in, but it sure snowballed fast!
Anyway, Happy Holidays to all of you, and thanks for making the last five years the most rewarding time of my life.

Bobby Lee,
Thanks to you! Holiday greetings and all that there kind of stuff.Bobby, you have succeeded in bringing a large group of strange people ( did I say "strange?") together. We talk together. We teach each other. We learn from each other. Sling a little stuff sometimes but for the most part we all live through that. We play together. We pray with and for each other. We have shed tears with each other and we enjoy a lot of humor here. I think we could say you have "united" us. TAKE A BOW,BOBBY LEE! I thank you for this!
Regards to you and Happy Holidays to you and yours! Fred Jack |

Thanks b0b for your efforts and hard work as we all are reaping the rewards! This Forum and my many new friends have made my fast paced return to Steel "Possible".
So b0b, where were you , the Internet and the Forum 25 years ago ?? I can't imagine where we ( Steel players ) would be today if this type of "at home in your face whenever you want" Forum was available back then. But I can imagine where we will be say in ten years ! b0b, this rock has just begun to roll down the hill !
Happy Holidays to b0b and all of my new friends here on the Forum, I can't wait to see what 2002 brings us !

bob, may you and your family have a wonderful holiday season.
Moving is traumatic but you seem to be taking it well.
I was one of the early forumites and I've seen a lot and learned a lot over the years. I've also made and met many many friends through the forum. The migration to it's own server and link was a major accomplishment. |

I could get gushy but instead suffice it to say that the Forum has had a significant impact--positive, for sure--on my life. It is directly involved in my rediscovery of my love for Steel Guitar. It is responsible for my awareness of artists I might otherwise not know. It has helped me to learn so much about music, about picking, about history, and frankly, with positive and negative personal interactions, about living.
Congratulations on this milestone and the best of Holidays, Bobby and everyone. |
