I got to experience a real thrill Saturday night. Mr Gene Watson came to my home town to do a concert and I had the opportunity to provide sound for the occasion. In addition to that, I got to meet Corky Owens and the rest of the band. I have heard a lot about Corky but never met him. He is as nice as everybody has said and that Rains was awesome. Not only does Gene Watson still belt em out like he did 30+ years ago, the entire Farewell Party Band is a super bunch of guys to work with and be around. I consider Saturday a real blessing to get to work with such fine musicians and to listen to such a dynamic voice.

We opened for them here a couple of years ago and I got to meet Corky. He is absolutely phenominal. He made a lasting impression on me. My drummer had busted his bass drum head and he got Gene to sign it. It was a wonderful weekend the likes of I may never feel again. Thanks to you for the post and thanks to Corky for being such a thoughtful person.

Corky came to St. John's a while back with Gene Watson, and I too can attest to his picking abilities and gentlemanly manner. Smile

I sure hope to meet Corky one of these days. I've chatted on the phone with him a few times and shared plenty of emails. I can tell he's just a great person. After all he is one of my RAINS Brothers...

You are right Corky, the Farewell Party Band has just about the best traditional country sound around. I am still hearing super positive feedback from the folks from the Mineola area. I hope to see you guys again soon.

I've had the pleasure of hearing and visiting with Corky several times during my tenure as a Rains owner...matter of fact, he helped Gary build mine. Had the pleasure of spending a few minutes with Corky at the Dallas Show in the Rains room. He and Gary have something in common...both first class people and first class players.
