I have made many songs with BIAB & then record them to my digital Fostex Multi Track recorder. I record
each instrument to a separate track so I can adjust volume and EQs,effects Etc.of each instrument.
For example, I record drums to track 1 by using the solo feature in BIAB, then I solo the bass on track 2
and the rest of the tracks are done the same way untill all BIAB instruments are on a different track of my Fostex
My problem or should I say question is, getting all the BIAB instruments to start exactly on time together on my Fostex, is a hassle
My method is this,,after I have the 1st track recorded to the Fostex, I start over with a different instrument on BIAB and hold the pause untill I match it up with the 1st track on the Fostex , very hit & miss,,,too soon ,too late!! I have done this over & over to get the tracks to match on starting points.
I guess there is really no other way to do this. So do any others do it this way ?? _________________ steelguitarguy.com |

I just set the volumes (Drums, bass, Piano) how I want them and record them all at once, Redo them if I have to, Adjust with the EQ in the final mix. OR!!
Real Band breaks them out to tracks, But I have yet to master it, too stubborn and lazy to read the instructions
If you click in my MySpace below the last song is the rythm track for Steel Guitar Rag. _________________ MSA 12 String E9th/B6th Universal.

You have to have your recorder midi synced to your computer, but BIAB won't do a midi sync. You have to save the song as a midi file and then play it with a sequencing program, like Power Tracks. Power Tracks will do a midi sync and you record each instrument on a separate track as you're doing now, but they will be in exact time together. It sounds complicated, but it's actually real simple and quick to do.
This is the way I do it. You can hear samples on my website. |

Yes, midi synch, send the midi track over to the workstation two tracks at a time or, use a PC software host program such a Reaper, audacity or Cakewalk which will take the entire BIAB midi file and dump it automatically into separate tracks.
