Can't hold my tongue any longer .......
I rang SGN last night and was advised that my new Ritt was shipped on Wednesday. Tracking it on the DHL website shows that it left Wilmington Airpark at 5.55 Thursday morning.
The guitar is an S10 (on a single body) 3x4, black on front, woodgrain on top.
I can recommend the folk at SGN and Gary R as helpful, no-fuss people to deal with.
I will post pictures as soon as I can. |

So there is .....
Thats the first picture I have seen of it! (thanks, David)
Here is that picture (I have copied it from the SGN web site - I hope thats OK)
It is half black (I thought I would hedge my bets) it will sound good out front, at least.
Guitar is still in customs I guess - I'm waiting on the phone call to pick it up.

That's a nice looking guitar. Would it be okay to ask how much you paid for the S-10? |

Jerry
Sure you can ask!
I won't say exactly, as I did order this mid-last year so I wouldn't be suprised if prices have gone up a bit since then. It was around about 2.5 at that time. I looks like costing just over US$3000 landed here in Australia with all duty and tax paid, and I'm pretty happy with that.
Bobbe and Dan at SGN are very helpful - I would give them a ring - they are the exclusive retailers for these guitars. |

Stuck in Customs in the morning. Put with the courier at 13:19 for delivery to my home. The internet tracker said they tried to deliver it at 14:45, but I know they didn't as the front door was open all afternoon and I was sitting next to it, in a chair.

Quick phone call of encouragement to them early. With the courier at 8:32 for delivery to my home.

It was Steve's guitar, photo included on his reply above, that started it all for me. Jody Cameron came to Oregon and met with Jay Kardong and myself for about 4 days. It just snowballed after that. The next thing I know, Jody and Jay are playing Rittenberry's. The only reason I sold my teal green Ritt was to have Gary build me a black polished guitar. I still love that teal/turquoise color of Steve's guitar. Actually, if I could have two guitars and justify it all, I would have another one in the teal/turquoise green once again. Boy do I love my Rittenberry! |

well - it finally arrived (10.30 this morning)
In one piece and apparently in good order. It is nice and new. The woodgrain on the top is much darker than it appears in the photo. Pedal and knee actions are smooth.
Unfortunately, it came with the wrong copedant on it, so I've decided not to plug it in or play it until I can be arsed changing all that around.
I'll get back to you with a tone report then. The Sho~bud wins a repreive for another few weeks! |

Pedals are fine. I play my Es on my right knee, they came on the left. Also I've been given a first string raise and 6th lower on my RKL, which are not changes I use (or asked for!)
Its no biggie, as you say - the trickiest part will be finding the right weirdo american-size allen key to take it apart with. We are metric over here. I'm going to have to get some new pull rods too
I'll put it away a while and think about it (its all a bit hard right now) ....

You ordered this guitar new and the set-up was wrong? I think I'd be a bit ticked off at that!
Still, it does look very nice. _________________ Roger Rettig: Emmons D10, B-bender Teles, Martins, and a Gibson Super 400!

Well, theres not much point being ticked off from way over here .... I guess I just have to fix it. I'm sure its just a simple communication short circuit; but I hope there isn't some other customer about to get a guitar with my set up on it.
This is not to take anything away from Gary R and his work. This is a beautiful looking, exquisitely made and (acoustically) nice sounding steel. |

i'd be more than ticked off! and i'd expect to have gary send wrenches to fit to undo what he did wrong. that's a lot of money to have to rework it yourself. |

Sorry, Jeremy - I know anticipating a new instrument is an exciting prospect, and I didn't mean to sound a negative note in my earlier post. It's just that, speaking for myself, I'd be extremely irritated if the dealer hadn't taken enough trouble to transmit the correct information to the manufacturer, if, in fact, that's what happened here.
Perish the unworthy thought, but I bet it's never happened to Buddy Emmons. Chris is right- someone should see to it that you're inconvenienced as little as possible as a result of this error.
We all look forward to hearing nice things about your new guitar, and that this glitch will soon be a fading memory. _________________ Roger Rettig: Emmons D10, B-bender Teles, Martins, and a Gibson Super 400!
